Mika Brzezinski responds to Trump with 'little hands' reference after he posts inflammatory tweet about her 'face-lift'

MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski needed no words of her own in responding to President Donald Trump's attack on her Thursday morning.

In a tweet, she posted a photo of a box of Cheerios. On it, the words "Made For Little Hands" were written.

For years, Trump has taken issue with individuals commenting on the supposed small size of his hands and fingers. In a Republican primary debate in 2016, Trump defended the size of his hands and his genitals after Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida had said days earlier "you know what they say about men with small hands? ... You can't trust them."

"Look at those hands, are they small hands?" Trump said, raising them to be visible above the podium. "And, he referred to my hands - 'if they're small, something else must be small.' I guarantee you there's no problem. I guarantee."

Brzezinski was responding Thursday to a tweet Trump had posted minutes earlier, mocking her for "bleeding badly from a face-lift."

"I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don't watch anymore)," Trump wrote in the first of two tweets. "Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe [Scarborough,] came to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year's Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!"

Photos from New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, who was at Mar-a-Lago for New Year's Eve events, showed that Brzezinski, along with her co-host and soon-to-be husband Joe Scarborough, were hanging out with Trump at the event. Haberman spotted the three chatting among a crowd.

Trump has had a contentious relationship with the MSNBC hosts. Before he ran for president, Brzezinski and Scarborough were friendly with Trump, and they were initially receptive to his candidacy. But they have since pivoted to criticizing him heavily on-air. In turn, Trump has both praised the pair and ripped them on social media at various times since announcing his candidacy in 2015.

Scarborough responded to Trump's attack on his fiancee by retweeting CNN anchor Jake Tapper, who replied to Trump's inflammatory tweet.

"This reminds me: how is @FLOTUS's campaign against cyber-bullying going?" Tapper asked, referencing first lady Melania Trump's anti-cyber-bullying campaign.
