As the five year term of the present assembly will end on February 22, 2020, Delhi Vidhan Sabha will go for polls in February 2020. Rohini will see the elections in February 2020 along with the other 69 assembly constituencies in Delhi. There are 174600 voters in the Rohini seat including 91328 males, 83262 females and 10 third gender voters. Rohini assembly seat comes within the jurisdiction of North West Delhi parliamentary constituency.
During the last assembly elections held in Rohini constituency in 2015, BJP’s Vijayender Kumar won this seat by scoring 59866 votes. He defeated the runner up candidate of AAP C L Gupta who bagged 54499 votes. The vote margin between these two contestants was 5,367. In 2013 elections for the Delhi assembly, AAP’s Rajesh Garg scored 47890 votes from this seat and defeated Jai Bhagwan Aggarwal of BJP, who was the runner up candidate scoring 46018 votes.
In 2008 assembly elections, Jai Bhagwan Aggarwal represented the BJP and emerged victoriously to become the MLA with 55793 votes. In this election, he had defeated the INC candidate Vijendar Jindal who scored 30019 votes. However, he faced a defeat in 2013 elections by AAP candidate with a thin vote margin. From 2008, there had been three elections for the Delhi assembly and INC, BJP and AAP had held this seat for one term each. The vote score of 59866 scored by the BJP contestant Vijender Kumar was the highest number of votes any candidate had scored from this assembly seat so far.
