Spain has recorded 6,391 infections as of Saturday, with 191 deaths, making it the second-worst hit country in Europe after Italy.

The number of cases jumped by 1159 overnight on Friday, with many of the new cases in Madrid.

Confirmation that Begona Gomez had tested positive came after the prime minister unveiled a drastic new set of measures to tackle the coronavirus.

Spanish citizens will be banned from leaving home except to buy supplies or medicine, or in some cases go to work. Museums, sports venues and other public spaces will be closed, while restaurants and cafes will be restricted to deliveries, the BBC reported.
