The House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol announced on Monday that it will hold a sixth public hearing on Tuesday.

The hearing, slated for 1 pm ET, will feature "recently obtained evidence" as well as testimony from witnesses, according to an advisory sent to reporters.

The announcement of a sixth hearing this month is unexpected; Congress is currently on recess for the July 4th holiday, and committee members had previously said that further hearings would not take place until July.

At the committee's most recent hearing, committee members focused on former President Donald Trump's plot to pressure the Department of Justice into supporting his baseless claims of election fraud.

At the conclusion of the hearing, members revealed that six Republican members of Congress — including Reps. Andy Biggs, Mo Brooks, Scott Perry, Louie Gohmert, Matt Gaetz, and Marjorie Taylor Greene — all sought pardons from Trump in the final days of his term.
