From 2021, your local Burger King could have food lockers, conveyor belts, and Whoppers delivered to your car.

The fast-food chain is rolling out new look restaurants, with the first opening in Miami, Latin America, and the Caribbean next year.

The two new stores designs provide multiple ordering and delivery options for customers. You can collect from a food locker or have your order delivered to your car, by either a person or conveyor belt.

Parent company Restaurant Brands International's head of design described it as "the restaurant of tomorrow," and said they designed the sites "like we had a blank sheet of paper, designing without preconceived notions of how a Burger King restaurant should look."

Diners can park their cars in what Burger King calls the "drive-in area" under solar-powered canopies. Customers place their orders through the app by scanning a QR code at their parking spot, and staff deliver the order to their car.

A revamped drive-thru service will also be available.

The drive-thru has two or three lanes for both ordering and pick-up, which will speed up the process. Some locations have a designated motorcycle lane, too.

You can also collect curb-side deliveries.

If customers or delivery services place orders in advance through the Burger King app, they can park in dedicated parking spots for curb-side delivery. They can use an app to notify the restaurant when they arrive, and the order is brought to their vehicle.

You can collect your food from lockers if you order through the app.

As well as the drive-thru and drive-in lanes, customers and delivery services can also collect orders from food lockers using a pin they get on the Burger King app when ordering. The food comes straight from the kitchen to the pick-up lockers.

KFC is currently trailing a similar system at restaurants in Japan. This allows customers to order on the app and collect orders contact-free.

The restaurants have a designated section for "walk up" orders.
