An urban explorer has posted a video of an abandoned McDonald's restaurant - and it's like stepping into a time capsule from the 1980s.

The restaurant has retro pink and blue decor, including busy wallpaper, triangular wall art, and framed landscape photos. A lot of the kitchen equipment is still there, including a McFlurry machine with syrups stored underneath.

Urban explorer @triangleofmass, who posted an initial TikTok video on Thursday, said that the restaurant had been abandoned in 2007. The TikTok video, which has more than 250,000 views, gives a quick tour of the restaurant, but the user also posted a more detailed 10-minute video on YouTube.

The video also shows a bag the chain rolled out for the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics, a hot-chocolate machine, and a filet o' fish wrapper featuring a snorkler that McDonald's used in the mid-2000s.

In an interview with Newsweek, @triangleofmass declined to say where the restaurant was because he didn't want people to vandalize it, but Snopes reported that it was similar to other mid-1980s restaurants the chain rolled out in Oregon.

Multiple comments liken the interior to Taco Bell's restaurant design from the 1990s, though shots in the video show the McDonald's logo still in place on equipment and packaging littered on the floor.

"When I got to the location I couldn't believe how intact everything was and the fact it's so well preserved and nothing was destroyed," @triangleofmass told Newsweek, adding that he was surprised by how little mold and dust there was.

McDonald's has redesigned its restaurants and packaging multiple times over the years. In November, the fast-food chain unveiled new packaging with bright colors and simple patterns, alongside a revamped drive-thru restaurant format.
