Oct 13, 2014, 15:24 IST
September and October are usually good months for auto sales in India. The auto Industry was hoping to have a good month (September) as a far as trade is concerned. However, the sales have dropped by over a percent when compared to the same time last year. People have not spent as much as the industry was expecting and there has been a slight decline.

Domestic cars sales stood at 1,54,882 units in the month of September compared to 1,56,494 last year during the same month according to SIAM. The industry experts suggest the reason why this has happened is because people did not buy anything during ‘Shraadh days’ (tribute days for the passed away souls in India).

But, if you look at the Calendar year, 2014 has not been the best year for the Indian auto industry. Most auto companies in India have not been able to achieve the desired results. The sales have been sluggish this year and the car makers are hoping for a miracle in the last quarter of 2014. October should see better sales but by how much, we will get to know in a few week’s time.
