Pensions advisory firm Profile Financial recently ranked the best cities in the UK to retire to, based on a range of criteria from crime rates to property prices.

The average house prices for each area according to property website Zoopla as of September 2016 were contrasted with crime statistics from the Office for National Statistics, calculated by dividing the number of crimes committed in a particular city by a 1000th of its population.

The number of amenities available to retirees, from churches and green spaces to cafes and pubs, was also considered.

The ranking, which was released in November 2016, includes some of the UK's most affordable cities, such as Glasgow and Swansea.
