  • The NFL has made a request that could force Colin Kaepernick's collusion case to an early end, according to a report.
  • Now, Kaepernick and his team must prove that they have enough material to support the case continuing.
  • According to the report, the case is now at its most "pivotal" moment.

The NFL has taken action to try and bring Colin Kaepernick's collusion case against the league to an early close, and one in its favor, according to a new report from Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports.

Per Robinson, the league has cited a clause in its collective bargaining agreement to ask for a summary judgment in Kaepernick's collusion case from arbitrator Stephen Burbank, who could, in turn, bring Kaepernick's case to a close.

Robinson wrote: "If Burbank rules Kaepernick's attorneys have found evidence to move toward a hearing, the case will continue, possibly with additional depositions. If he finds that the current discovery evidence is insufficient to advance, he can dismiss the case in favor of the NFL."

According to Robinson, it's up to Kaepernick's team to prove they have enough evidence to keep the case moving forward.

This development, according to Robinson, is "the most pivotal moment" in the case so far.

Kaepernick began his case against the league in October 2017, after he went unsigned for the entirety of the 2017 NFL season for protesting systemic racism and police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem.

Kaepernick's lawyer claims to have evidence of a team owner admitting to changing his mind on signing Kaepernick due to comments made by President Trump, and it has also been reported that the depositions have uncovered evidence that multiple teams viewed Kaepernick as a starting-caliber quarterback when he became a free agent.
