A Scottish café appears to be using a chalk-drawn image of the children's TV cartoon character Peppa Pig to promote a bacon sandwich, EdinburghLive reported.
According to EdinburghLive, Gordon Street Coffee in Edinburgh sparked backlash among some vegans and parents over the sign, which includes an image of Peppa Pig, a plus sign, and a slice of bread. (You can see a photo on EdinburghLive.)
"Even if you are not vegan or vegetarian that could be really upsetting," one local parent told EdinburghLive. "My kids would be absolutely traumatized if they saw that sign, it's really not funny."
Online, one commenter called the sign "so insensitive," according to The New York Post, while another wrote that it would "make a lot of children question food."
Some Twitter users, though, took to the platform to say they think that learning where your food comes from is a good thing. "People should understand what they are eating," one user tweeted.
Representatives for Gordon Street Coffee did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
