This demolition team is blaming Google Maps after destroying the wrong house
On Tuesday, a team from Billy L. Nabors Demolition tore down a duplex located at 7601 Calypso Drive in Rowlett, Texas. There's just one problem: the team was supposed to tear down a building one block over at 7601 Cousteau Drive, not Calypso Drive.
The building's owners, Lindsay Diaz and Alan Cutter, are understandably upset. During December, their duplex had been ravaged by a tornado, but Diaz and Cutter were starting to make repairs and return to normal, WFAA 8 reports.
"I pull up, and - sure enough - it's gone," Diaz said of discovering his home had been wrongly demolished. "There's nothing left.
An employee from the demolition company followed up with Diaz and Cutter, sending them pictures from Google Maps which reportedly show an arrow pointing to the pair's duplex at 7601 Calypso Drive mislabeled by the app with the address7601 Cousteau Drive.
According to WFAA 8, the situation is still being investigated. Billy L. Nabors Demolition did not immediately respond to Tech Insider's request for comment, but the company's CEO, George Gomez has said that the incident is "not a big deal.
