On Wednesday, a woman named Sanam was living the average life of a 25-year-old in Seattle, working at a plant store and, like any good millennial, regularly posting on Instagram.

By Friday, she was getting to know Rihanna on the set of her newest music video, B*tch Better Have My Money (BBHMM).

So how did that happen?

Rihanna was using Instagram's explore feature when she came across Sanam's selfie, Vice's Tasbeeh Herwees reports.

Enthralled, Rihanna followed her on the social platform and sent her a message that read, "Hey, I have this idea I want to run by you. I think you're so f**king rare. Let me know if you're interested."

Sanam, who, like Rihanna, only uses her first name, was ecstatic. "I had no idea what she was talking about. I was just freaking out, because Rihanna is messaging me on Instagram, telling me that she thinks I'm cool," she told Vice.

Later, Rihanna told Sanam that after finding the Instagram, "... I was like, I don't know if I should message her or not. I don't know if she's going to be down."

"I'm just sitting there, like, 'Are you crazy? How could you be nervous to message me?'" Sanam explained.

After a few conversations with a production company, she was on a flight heading to the set of BBHMM.

Sanam had the time of her life playing one of Rihanna's henchmen in the epic video, which premiered on July 1 at 9:05pm. At one point in the music video, she smashes a bottle over the head of model Rachel Roberts.

It just goes to show - never underestimate the power of a great selfie. And if Rihanna starts following you on Instagram, get excited.
