To combat Reliance Jio, Airtel makes incoming calls on international roaming free

Sep 28, 2016, 14:15 IST
In a bid to give tough competition to Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel announced new freebies. Airtel made incoming calls free on international roaming, which has come as a big relief to people who travel overseas for business and leisure quite often.

This will help the customers to carry their India mobile number wherever they go and be connected all the time. The packs will be available for both prepaid and postpaid customers at a price of about $75 per month. International roaming on data has also been reduced by the leading telecom company to Rs 3 per MB, from Rs 650/MB

Sunil Bharti Mittal-backed Airtel has also cut down charges for calls to India and local in-country calls to Rs 3 per minute across the US, UK, UAE, Canada and Singapore.

This move is to stop premium customers to move to Reliance Jio as Mukesh Ambani led company has proved to be a tough competitor.

The international roaming or IR packs, according to the company, come with validity for a day, 10 days and 30 days that would give flexibility to consumers to choose one as per their travel plans. The packs can be activated by the customers at any time and they will only be charged when they actually use it.
