  • Under Armour has launched a new trivia app, called StephIQ, in conjunction with the NBA playoffs.
  • It's clearly modeled after the popular HQ Trivia app, but the game only starts after Steph Curry gets his first three-point basket.
  • Players who answer the basketball-related questions correctly could win sneakers, NBA playoff tickets, or Under Armour gift cards.

Under Armour is quizzing Steph Curry fans, and those who get the answers right could win big.

The sportswear maker has launched a new quiz app called Steph IQ. The app is clearly inspired by the popular trivia app HQ Trivia, where players log on at certain times to participate in a live quiz show. Those who get all the questions right win or split a cash prize at the end.

Under Armour's concept is similar, except the trivia game only starts after Curry scores a three-point shot in an NBA playoff game. It's hosted by basketball social-media personality Brandon Armstrong - better known as "Bdot" - who explains the rules to players.

He proceeds to ask eight basketball-centric questions to players, who have 10 seconds to answer. Get one wrong, and you're out. Get them all right, and you're in the money. A live raffle dictates which winners get prizes like Curry 5 sneakers, NBA playoff tickets, or $10,000 in Under Armour gift cards.

"Steph IQ is one of the first ever mobile games triggered by an athlete's live performance that marries the physical and digital experience of watching a sporting event," Under Armour digital marketing head Jim Mollica told Fast Company. "We're using technology and trends in consumer behavior to elevate the dual screen viewing habits and the way fans tune in and engage with Curry's performance."

The game is a new way to drum up excitement for one of the most famous athletes in Under Armour's stable. The playoffs mark Curry's return to the court after injury sidelined him in March.

The app can be downloaded from Apple's App Store. There's currently no version for Android.

The first chance to win with Steph IQ will be Friday, when the Golden State Warriors face the New Orleans Pelicans in game three of the Western Conference semifinals.

It will continue for as many games as the Warriors have left in the playoffs. The Warriors are leading the series 2-0.
