Walmart said Wednesday that it will raise the minimum age to purchase tobacco and e-cigarettes to 21 years old across all its Walmart and Sam's Club stores.

The change will take effect on July 1.

The company said it is also discontinuing the sale of fruit- and dessert-flavored e-cigarettes.

The company announced the changes in a letter to the US Food and Drug Administration.
