Reciprocating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s move to invite Chinese President Xi Jinping to his home state Gujarat, the Jinping, too, has invited Modi to his hometown Xian.

Xian is a tourist town which showcases the Terracotta warriors. It is the same town where Buddhist monk Hiuen Tsang spent his last years after his return from India about 2,000 years ago.

“When he came back to China, he stayed in my hometown, Xian, to translate and spread Buddhist thoughts to Chinese people,” Jinping said.

As per historical records, Hiuen Tsang started his travels when he was 28 (in 629 AD), and recorded his travels in Gujarat, where he referred to towns like Bharuch, Malwa, Idar and Valabhi.
