Voting in the EU referendum is a pretty simple procedure: You walk into your local polling station and give your address and name; next you will be given a ballot paper and directed to a booth, where you put a cross in one of two boxes; finally you fold up the ballot paper and place it in the counting box.

However, there are all kinds of strange rules on polling day, which could make your seemingly innocuous behaviour technically illegal, or at least against the electoral commission's rules.

It's really easy to stay within the law, so make sure to go out and vote. However, below are seven behaviors you should avoid when going to vote today:
