If you happen to fall into the latter category, you may want to consider a career as an anesthesiologist or a news anchor.

We recently combed through data from the Occupational Information Network (O*NET), a US Department of Labor database that compiles detailed information on hundreds of jobs, to find the positions with a high "stress tolerance" score. We then looked at salary data on the US Bureau of Labor Statistics website to see which jobs pay over $70,000 a year, on average.

O*NET ranks how important "accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations" is in any job, assigning each a score between one and 100. Positions that put workers in stressful situations, such as nurse or pilot, rank between 95 and 100, while jobs such as animal breeder and crossing guard received scores under 50.
