The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) for the 9.41 km long Metro expansion from Dilshad Garden in Delhi to Ghaziabad’s New Bus Stand. The cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 1,770 crore.

DMRC's director of business development, SD Sharma, and GDA vice-chairman, Santosh Yadav, signed the MoU in the presence of Delhi Metro MD Mangu Singh at the Ghaziabad authority's headquarters.

The stretch will have a total of seven stations – Shaheed Nagar, Rajbagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala and New Bus Stand. The corridor is expected to be completed by June 2017.

According to Metro officials, work will be expedited to commission the project ahead of schedule. Delhi Metro MD Mangu Singh said, "Work on technical studies, including soil profiling and ensuring proper power supply for the project, will immediately start. The actual work on ground can be seen in the next three months.”
