National carrier Air India (AI), which will formally join as the 27th member of the global airlines’ club Star Alliance later this week, is trying to improve its onboard food service by providing its select passengers the opportunity to savour tailor-made dishes.

The service will be exclusively available for the first-class and business-class passengers on Air India. They will be able to taste and then choose their food once Air India joins the Star Alliance.

Flight caterer TajSATS said it had partnered with AI to improve the onboard food service on select domestic and international routes.
TajSATS’ director for food production Satish Arora said, “The ‘Table set-up’ has been conceptualised to provide passengers the opportunity to savour tailor-made dishes based on individual tastes and preferences.”

The induction is expected to improve Air India’s connectivity to high-growth economies and give the 26 Star Alliance members access to India’s domestic aviation market. A passenger would be able to access the destinations offered by the entire Star Alliance network of over 21,980 daily flights to 1,328 airports in 195 countries.
