Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the foremost investigative police agency in India, has claimed to have identified 2,200 corrupt officials from the Indian government last year. CBI also said that enquiries have been initiated against all of them.

As per the agency reports, there was a 94% jump in identifying corrupt officials in the country from 2014.

As of now, 101 FIRs have been registered against these persons. "People expect the CBI to act against corruption and we are doing just that. Our focus is on conducting fair investigations and completing pending investigations," said CBI director Anil Sinha. This is almost double of the number of FIRs registered against officials demanding bribe to grant favours in 2014.

Sinha told TOI that CBI has managed to file 1,044 chargesheets in 2015, its highest number in the last five years.
