It is that time of the year again when people all over India prepare for the festival of spring, Holi. Also called the festival of colours, Holi is celebrated widely all over India where people smear colours on each other’s faces, throw water balloons at each other’s backs and worship Lord Krishna, the Hindu god. The air is filled with the sweet aroma of gulaal (coloured powders) and the delicious smell of delicacies for that lavish lunch. This is that time of the year when Indians all over the world long to come home. But staying at a home away from home does not stop them from celebrating this unique festival. Every country from US to UK to South Africa celebrates it in its own vibrant style.

In Mauritius it is a national holiday and US holds the largest gathering for the Holi festival. This March if you are bored of the wild Holi Indians play, these five places are a must visit to witness first-hand how love and culture knows no boundaries. The best part is majority of the people participating are not Indians!
