Surrey, England, has the highest male life expectancy of any place in the UK, according to uSwitch's Quality of Life Index.

In this leafy suburb, men live to be 82 years old, on average.

The index compared 138 local authority areas within England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland based on 26 different factors, including salaries, disposable income, food and energy bills, and life expectancy.

Each variable was ranked for a given region, where a value of 138 is the best and a value of 1 is the worst.

Local areas that made it onto this list did not necessarily make it onto the list of the best places to live in the UK, which weighted the 26 measures and added them together to get a total index score. For the overall quality of life rankings, 1 is the best and 138 is the worst.
