Jordan Rodgers, the winner of 'The Bachelorette,' is joining ESPN's SEC Network
ABC/Hulu
Jordan Rodgers, the younger brother of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the recent winner of ABC's "The Bachelorette", has joined ESPN's SEC Network to cover college football this upcoming fall.
ESPN announced on Tuesday that they had hired Rodgers, noting that they had considered him well before he first appeared on "The Bachelorette".
"We first interviewed Jordan in March and he auditioned in May, before "The Bachelorette" had begun airing," ESPN vice president Stephanie Druley said in a statement, according to Yahoo. "We were struck by the clarity of his thought and strong, thoughtful opinion on the many layers of college football."
Rodgers played two seasons of quarterback at Vanderbilt, throwing 24 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He then featured on several NFL practice squads, but never made an official roster.
FTW noted that Rodgers has yet to update his LinkedIn profile to reflect his new position.
Rodgers is not the first former quarterback to search for love on the "Bachelor" franchise. His new colleague, ESPN's Jesse Palmer, was on "The Bachelor" after a short stint in the NFL.
In the season finale that aired Monday, Rodgers proposed to JoJo Fletcher from a beach in Thailand (she said yes!) and won "The Bachelorette." His estranged relationship with Aaron, however, was a central storyline of the show.
Hopefully now that Jordan has opened his heart up to love, he can also open his heart up to the idea of mending his relationship with Aaron. I think I speak for everyone when I say that this is the most important sports storyline of the summer.
