Practically all the details for Samsung's next major phone have leaked
We now know just about everything there is to know about Samsung's next major smartphone release.
Evan Blass, a tech writer with a nearly perfect record for gadget leaks, tweeted the specs for the Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 5:
Rains->Pours. Samsung Noble (SM-N920/self-reported): Exynos 7420 SoC (4x2.1GHz+4x1.5GHz), 5.66" 2560x1440, 4GB/32GB, 16MP/5MP, 5.1.1, no SD.

That means the Note 5 will have a 5.66-inch display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. In other words, the screen is going to be really big and really sharp. It'll also have 4 GB of RAM and one of Samsung's best processors, which means the Note 5 should be fast and powerful. The phone's rear camera will be 16 megapixels and the front camera will be 5 megapixels.
Finally, it'll run the latest version of Android, which Google calls Lollipop.
For comparison's sake, the iPhone 6 Plus, the main rival to Samsung's Note phones, has a 5.5-inch screen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, so it's not as sharp as the upcoming Note 5.
There have also been rumors that Samsung will use the Note 5 to launch Samsung Pay, its mobile payments system. Samsung Pay was first announced in the spring along with the Galaxy S6 smartphone and was supposed to launch this summer, but has been pushed back a bit.
Samsung will announce the Note 5 and a variation with a curved screen - probably called the Note Edge or Note 5 Edge - on August 13 at an event in New York. Samsung is introducing its latest Note phones earlier than usual, likely to preempt the announcement of the next iPhone, which is expected in September.
Blass also tweeted this photo of the Galaxy Note 5 and Note 5 Edge:
Samsung's Note line of phones were the first to popularize phablets, or phones with giant screens, at a time when most phones on had 4-inch screens or smaller. It took Apple years after the first Galaxy Note to finally make an iPhone with a screen bigger than four inches.
