VeriSign: There Are 276 Million Domain Names On The Internet

The internet is growing at a good pace and an increase of 5 million domain names in the first quarter of 2014 says the same. Verisign today announced that the total number of domains registered on the World Wide Web stands at 276 million (top level domains).
As compared to the last quarter of 2013, an increase of 1.7 percent can be seen in domain name registrations. Year on year there is an increase of 7.5 percent. Dot com continues to dominate the market. Combined with .net, 128.5 million URL’s are using these TLD’s. There is a 4% increase in these domains on year on year basis.
69% of the .com websites are in English and growing. The report just shows how internet is expanding and is not only limited to just the good old PC or laptop. People are using a lot of other means to access online data and one can see how things are moving. E-commerce websites are becoming a huge way of earning money and a lot of content is being consumed on the online platform. The time seems right to register your own domain and get your business online, if you are not already on it.
