A Fake Security Guard Allegedly Stole More Than $82,000 From Rome's Flagship H&M

H&M's flagship store in Rome was reportedly robbed of about $82,700 on Monday morning.

A man dressed as a security guard allegedly entered the newly opened store on Via del Corso, Rome's main shopping street, and told an assistant that he was authorized to withdraw money from the shop's safe, Italian news website The Local reports.

It wasn't until after the assistant led him to the safe that she realized he wasn't authorized for access, according to the report. That's when he pulled a gun on her and demanded that she hand over money from the safe.

The suspected thief made out with €60,000, which is about $82,700 in U.S. dollars.

The H&M store opened in late October and more than 1,000 people attended its opening.
