Acche din for Govt employees : a 6% hike in Dearness Allowance

Government employees and pensioners across the country have switched on the rejoicing mode. Staying true to its words, the Modi govt has announced a hike in the Dearness Allowance(DA), which will mean further increase in the pay package of the government employees.As per the sources, DA was hiked to 119 %, up 6 % points. This will supposedly benefit over 1 crore government employees and pensioners.
"The proposal to increase dearness allowance by six percentage points (from 113 %) to 119 % was approved by Union Cabintoday," a source said.
The DA hike will take effect from July 1. As per the agreed formula, the DA rate increase is an average of 12-month consumer price index-industrial workers from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015.
In April, the government had hiked DA by 6 % to 113 % of their basic pay with effect from January. DA is paid as proportion of the basic pay.
