Airbus Defence and Space CEO Bernhard Gerwert has met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, saying the company wants to 'Make in India'.

The duo reportedly discussed several possible projects across civil and defense aviation. During Modi's visit to Airbus’s Toulouse facility, the company had promised him that it’ll extend its outsourcing to $2 billion over the next five years.

The Airbus Group currently operates two engineering facilities in the country – one on civil aviation, other on defense. It also has a research and technology (R&T) centre.

The CEO has expressed interest in expanding the existing centres to help shoulder heightened design responsibilities for future programmes.
