Amazon Might Be Striking A Major Truce With Retailers
AP
The potential deal would represent a huge truce between the online behemoth and traditional retailers, writes Greg Bensinger at WSJ, citing sources familiar with the negotiations.
"The discussions, which seek to win over retailers that have largely shunned the online marketplace, involve about 10 well-known retailers, these people said, including Abercrombie & Fitch Co. and Neiman Marcus Group Inc.," Bensinger writes.
He also writes that Lord & Taylor and Ralph Lauren are negotiating with Amazon.
Amazon would list the goods on its site, but customers would still have to go to the retailers' websites to purchase them.
If all goes well, the brands could be available in Amazon in the next month, according to WSJ.
Amazon has been trying to break into fashion for several years, and already offers top brands like Kate Spade, Kenneth Cole, and Tommy Hilfiger.
