BJP stands ground as opposition ups ante against Swaraj, Raje, Chouhan

Both the houses of the parliament, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, saw stormy sessions and were adjourned on Day 2 of the Monsoon Session as opposition parties upped their ante against senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Congress party-led opposition continued to stall parliament proceedings, demanding resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over Lalit Modi row and Vyapam scam, respectively.

However, the BJP is firm on its stand and reiterated that the leaders had done no wrong and there will be no resignations.
Party leaders were also asked to aggressively "expose" Congress over its "disinformation campaign".

Reportedly, the assertions came at the BJP parliamentary party meeting where Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked MPs to be "proud" of the federal government’s work.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Swaraj told the parliamentarians that she offered no help to the former IPL boss.

"I offered neither any financial benefit to him nor did I help him flee India. I never told the British government to give him travel documents. All I did was to tell them that their decision (on Lalit Modi's request) will not affect their ties with India," Naqvi said quoting Swaraj.
Earlier, Congress party had planned to protest silently in parliament premises, but did not continue with the plan.

Meanwhile, BJP Chief Amit Shah, in the meeting, said that the party members would expose people who were trying to disrupt their journey on the path to progress over fabricated issues.
