With the festive season on the doorstep, the automobile industry is all set to witness a turn around from the coronavirus-led woes. The automakers have been betting on the festive season sales and are gearing up for a tough competition by launching various models with new technologies at a cost-effective price.

Kia Sonet

Kia Sonet

Kia Motors India which commenced pre-bookings of its upcoming compact SUV, Kia Sonet on August 20 is set to launch the car in the market on September 18. The pricing is yet to be announced.

The Sonet is equipped with user-friendly features such as a two-layer tray to store mobile devices in the dashboard, high-tech digital display and instrument cluster, featuring a first-in-segment 10.25-inch HD touchscreen and navigation system with UVO connected technologies.

The Sonet will be offered with three engine options— one is a Smartstream 1.2-litre four-cylinder, another a powerful 1.0 T-GDi (turbocharged gasoline direct injection) and the third one being an efficient 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine with a choice of five transmissions. The car is expected to be priced around ₹7 lakh.

​Toyota Urban Cruiser

​Toyota Urban Cruiser

Toyota which commenced pre-bookings of its upcoming compact SUV, Urban Cruiser on August 21, is set to launch the car in the market in the third week of September.

Toyota will offer a standard three years and 1 lakh km warranty with an option to extend it. The car will come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to both manual and automatic transmissions. It offers various features like LED projector headlamps, smartphone-based navigation, among others. The car is expected to be priced somewhere around ₹12 lakhs.

Skoda Rapid TSI AT

Skoda Rapid TSI AT

Skoda will start delivery of its Skoda Rapid TSI AT from September 18. The company has already commenced bookings for an amount of ₹25,000.

The car will be offered in five trims — Rider Plus, Onyx, Style, Monte Carlo, and Ambition. The Skoda Rapid TSI AT will be powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, TSI petrol engine paired to a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The car is expected to be priced somewhere around ₹10 - 14 lakh.

Mercedes-Benz EQC

Mercedes-Benz EQC

Mercedes-Benz EQC was expected to go on sale earlier this year, but, COVID delayed the launch. The company has now listed Mercedes-Benz EQC on its website indicating an upcoming launch.

The teaser on the official website of Mercedes-Benz showcases the EQC badging, LED headlamps, LED taillights and a few other features of the luxurious electric SUV. The electric SUV with the fast-charger capability will be able to charge the car from 0 - 80% in just 40 minutes. The car is expected to be priced somewhere around ₹1 crore.
