Congress’ Paresh Dhanani had been leading in Gujarat’s Amreli constituency against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Naran Bhai Kchhadia earlier in the day but ended up losing, which enabled the BJP to complete its clean sweep.

In Gandhinagar, where there was a change in the BJP candidate from L.K. Advani to Amit Shah — the latter won with 69.7% of the vote share.

BJP had sensed a kind of anti-incumbency against three MPs of the party in North Gujarat and has now given tickets to fresh candidates. BJP has replaced its sitting MP Jayshreeben Kanubhai Patel with Shardaben Patel. Congress is fielding AJ Patel, who is the richest candidate contesting the elections.

From the Patan constituency, Jagdish Thakore of Congress won in 2009 Lok Sabha elections. In 2014, he lost this seat to Liladhar Vaghela of BJP. The Congress is now fielding Jagdish Thakore once again from this seat. BJP has now fielded Bharatsinh Dhabi Thakore from this constituency. From the Banaskantha seat, BJP has denied ticket to the sitting MP Haribhai Chaudhary and has now fielded Parbatbhai Patel to represent the party here for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

In Chhota Udaipur seat, the BJP has replaced the sitting MP Ramsingh Ratwa by giving ticket to face the Lok Sabha elections to Geetaben Rathwa. The Congress candidate for the constituency is Ranjitmohan Singh, the son of Mohan Rathwa, veteran

Congress MLA. Gujarat has 26 seats in total to give to the parliament. BJP won from all the seats with overwhelming results during 2014 Lok Sabha Elections.
