Erstwhile Tata director hailed by Queen Elizabeth II

SA Hasan, former Managing Director of Tata Limited has been recognized by Queen Elizabeth II as an honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his aid to the country’s economy.

Hasan held the post of Managing Director of Tata in Europe from 1999 to 2013. He played a major role in the growth of Tata's UK investments in the process. This includes the accretion of Tetley Tea, Corus Steel, INCAT International and Jaguar Land Rover.

Hasan’s other contributions include the growth of Tata Consultancy Services, Taj Group, Tata Communications and Tata Elxsi in Britain. This has led to Tata now being one of the country's largest manufacturers.

He has also improved British-Indian trade by pusing some joint ventures to introduce British companies to the Indian market.

David Landsman, Executive Director, Tata Limited said: "This honour is a great tribute to Anwar Hasan's key role in smoothening the way for Tata's major investments in the UK which have played a vital part in the group's global expansion".
