Malibu's marijuana farmers market has a vape bar and gourmet pot-infused foods

Emerald Exchange, which held its inaugural event on a Malibu beach last month, gives new meaning to the "farmers market" concept.

A select group of marijuana entrepreneurs and farmers offered their wares. They hailed mostly from Mendocino County, a region known for its marijuana cultivation.

There was something for everyone, including small-batch, sun-grown weed from sustainable marijuana farm Prema Flora — sold in Mason jars, no less.
Deviant Dabs, a marijuana concentrates company that produces small-batch waxes and oils, uses packaging that wouldn't look out of place in a high-end cosmetics store.

Founder Megan Champion, who also helped launch the Emerald Exchange, began selling her products a few months ago. She hopes the event will help her shape the brand as she gains mainstream traction.
Foria Pleasure rode into the event in style. The startup makes marijuana-infused lubes and suppositories that can supposedly relieve menstrual discomfort.

Foria handed out samples of its lube, Foria Pleasure, which contains 150 milligrams of tetrahydrocannabinol, the main psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.
A sort of barter system took hold. When a cofounder of Shine On Farms, a Mendocino County operation that grows organic produce and cannabis, received a bushel of apples from another vendor, she offered to trade him fresh veggies.
Visitors wishing to partake had to present a state-issued ID and medical marijuana card at the entrance. Vaporizer company Firefly provided devices to sample.
A DJ kept the market moving as the sun dipped beyond the horizon.

A dinner prepared by Chef Joshua Fisher included teaspoons of THC extract for anyone who wanted to get high while enjoying their meal of baba ganoush, grilled veggies, and venison.
