HP's COVID-19 tally reaches 1,047; toll rises to 10
Shimla, Jul 4 () A 70-year-old woman succumbed to COVID-19 in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday, taking the toll to 10 as 13 more cases of the infection surfaced in the state, officials said here.
With this, the number of confirmed cases of infection in the state reaches 1,047.
The woman, a resident of Bir-Bagehra village in Hamirpur district, died at the Nerchowk Medical College in Mandi, an official said. She was also suffering from diabetes mellitus, he added.
The woman was referred to the Nerchowk Medical College from a dedicated COVID care centre in Bhota on June 28, the official said.
Additional Chief Secretary, Health, R D Dhiman said Hamirpur district reported nine fresh cases, Solan three and Kangra reported one.
The new cases in Hamirpur include seven members of two families who had recently returned from Delhi and Ghaziabad, Deputy Commissioner Harikesh Meena said.
In Kangra, a 29-year-old man, who had recently returned from Bengaluru, tested positive for the disease, Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati said.
Twenty-five coronavirus patients recovered from the disease on Saturday, Dhiman said. Eight of them are from Kangra, five each from Shimla and Solan, three from Hamirpur and one each from Una, Bilaspur, Mandi, and Sirmaur, he added.
So far, 696 patients have recovered from the disease in the state, while 13 have migrated, the official said.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state stands at 326.
