Omicron in India — Maharashtra and Rajasthan have recorded 19 positive cases so far

The newly emerged COVID-19 variant Omicron, which was first detected in South Africa, is spreading fast in India as well as the world.

As fresh cases were being reported in various states like Rajasthan, Maharashtra, the tally has so far reached 23 cases in India.

On Sunday itself, 17 new cases of Omicron variant were reported in India.

According to several media reports, most of the Omicron positive cases that were reported either arrived from African countries or were in contact with them.

On Monday, Maharashtra confirmed two new cases of the Omicron strain.

Another point to be noted is that some of the positive cases reported were fully vaccinated for COVID-19, according to media reports.
