Police in the UK confirmed they are investigating an online threat made against author J.K. Rowling.

Rowling was threatened after she tweeted support for Salman Rushdie, a 75-year-old novelist who was attacked and stabbed in upstate New York on Friday.

Rowling tweeted about the attack on Rushdie, saying she felt "very sick," and one Twitter user replied: "Don't worry you are next."

The "Harry Potter" author responded by tweeting screenshots of the incident to Twitter Support. She received a statement of support from Warner Bros. Discovery, Insider previously reported.

The threatening tweet has since been deleted, but the account associated with it, @MeerAsifAziz1, was still active at the time of publication.
