It's been more than a week since Trump was above 35% approval in the gold standard of presidential indicators
Carlos Barria/Reuters
For the past eight days, Trump's approval rating in the poll has not risen above 35%, falling at either 35% or 34% - tied for the lowest mark of his presidency - each day. His disapproval mark over that stretch has stuck at either 59% or 60%, close to his presidential high of 61%.
The eight-day stretch, which began with Gallup's August 20 poll, is the worst of his presidency. Prior to the past eight days, Trump's approval had slipped to 35% or below on just two occassions - when he hit 34% on August 13 and when his approval slipped to 35% on March 28.
On the disapproval side, Trump's rating had reached a level as high as 59% on 13 occassions prior to his current eight-day slide.

Gallup
Gallup has tracked the approval of every president since Harry Truman. Only Presidents Gerald Ford and Bill Clinton have hit ratings nearly as low as Trump this early in an administration, with Ford's 37% approval on his 157th day in office and Clinton's 39% approval on the 152nd day of his administration. No president has hit a rating below 37% within their first 535 days in office, a number Trump has met consistently within his first 220 days as president.
