As reported earlier, India’s top telecom companies have approached the telecom department about Reliance Industry’s telecom leg Jio breaking rules. To this, RIL officials have said that the GSM industry body representing India's top telcos is trying to "sabotage" Jio’s name before its debut this month, trying to "malign its name".

Jio chairman RS Sharma wrote identical but separate letters to telecom secretary JS Deepak and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) chairman RS Sharma on August 10th, calling the GSM Industry body's recent allegations against it, "malicious, unfounded and ill-informed."
