Kamala Harris says Trump reminds her of the Wizard of Oz: 'When you pull back the curtain, it's a really small dude'

2020 Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris compared Trump's trade strategy to the "Wizard of Oz" on Thursday night at the third Democratic debate.

Harris jabbed at the president, saying that he is being outmatched in his yearlong trade war against China, the world's second largest economic power.

"The bottom line is this: Donald Trump, in office on trade policy, you know, he reminds me of that guy in "The Wizard of Oz," you know, when you pull back the curtain, it's a really small dude?" Harris said.

Trump recently levied additional tariffs on China earlier this month. Politico reported that Trump's advisers are searching for a way to prevent further escalation which could rattle global markets.

However, negotiations between both sides have stalled. And economic experts say the trade war with China contributed to a decline in business investment and sharp pullback in hiring, accelerating fears of a recession in the next year.
