McDonald's is giving away free bacon for one hour

McDonald's is going all-in on bacon.

On Wednesday, the chain announced that for one hour on January 29, customers get get free bacon on any menu item.

The deal is meant to highlight the chain's new thick-cut, Applewood-smoked bacon, as well as the three new bacon-centric new menu items: the Big Mac with bacon, Quarter Pounder Bacon burger, and Cheesy Bacon Fries.

The "Bacon Hour" lasts from 4 to 5 p.m. local time on Tuesday, January 29. Customers will receive two piece of bacon on the side of any order, from a burger to Filet-O-Fish to hot fudge sundaes. McDonald's will limit each person to one side of bacon.

"I love bacon. America loves bacon," Chef Michael Haracz, McDonald's manager of culinary innovation, said in a statement. "I really can't wait to see the crazy and daring combinations our customers put together."

The Big Mac with bacon, Quarter Pounder Bacon burger, and Cheesy Bacon Fries hit menus on January 30, the day after "Bacon Hour."
