MediaTek To Invest USD 200 Million In India, Opens R&D Facility In Bengaluru

MediaTek has been supplying low cost mobile chipsets to Indian mobile handset makers since quite some time now. The next logical step for them is to certainly establish a research and development facility in India. The company has announced that they are opening its R&D operations based out of Bengaluru.

Over that the chipset maker has planned to invest USD 200 million dollars in India in the next few years. They see India as the next big destination where semiconductors industry will explode. This is the perfect opportunity for the multinational to quickly step up and mark its territory to expand the business.

Sharing insights on MediaTek’s expansion plans for India, Grant Kuo, Managing Director, MediaTek India, said, “MediaTek Bangalore R&D center would cater to the growing needs of millions of consumers in emerging Super to mid-market, especially in the South-East Asian region.”

MediaTek will be focussing on developing innovative solutions for wireless communications and will establish MediaTek’s presence in other core segments like connectivity & home entertainment devices with this Bengaluru R&D Facility.
