Meet the nonprofit bringing solar technology to the developing world

No one should be left in the dark once the sun goes down. That's the philosophy behind Watts of Love, a nonprofit dedicated to providing solar-powered lighting solutions for some of the poorest regions in the developing world. Following a business trip to the Philippines, founder Nancy Economou realized the need for an alternative light source that could help people living in areas of poverty break free of their dependency on non-renewable, and oftentimes hazardous, fuel sources. The result? Solar technology that has helped children study longer, parents start businesses, and families cut down on out-of-pocket fuel expenses.
