Slowdown, what Slowdown? It seems like Indians are earning a lot of money and spending as much, if you look at the amount of luxury cars sold in 2013. The German car manufacturer, Mercedes, has had a brilliant time in 2013. They managed to boost their sales by 32%, year over year, and sold over 9,000 car units last year.

While many at the beginning of 2013 had contemplated that Mercedes market share in India will go down further because BMW’s and Audi’s sales were on the rise, the German major came back and closed the year with strong figures.

Mercedes launched their luxury hatch back called the A-class last year, which saw excessive demand. The company did well with E-class as well and saw a rise in sales of their SUV’s. Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented “Our consumers have clearly appreciated our initiatives and we enter 2014 with a clear promise of delivering excellence.”

All eyes are now on the show grounds of Auto-Expo and what will be unveiled there by Mercedes to woo the crowds further.
