  • Netflix just launched an update to the 'Download' feature for mobile phone users.
  • Titled 'Smart Downloads,' the feature will automatically delete downloaded episodes after they are watched, and will download new episodes when the device is connected to WiFi
  • It's currently only available for Android phones and tablets.

Netflix just made it even easier to binge-watch your favorite shows - even when you're not connected to the internet.

In an update to the 'Download' feature released in 2016 that allows mobile Netflix users to download episodes to their phones, Netflix launched 'Smart Downloads.' It's a feature that will automatically delete downloaded episodes after they're watched, and will download the next episode in the series when the device is connected to WiFi - but it's currently only available for Android phones and tablets.

The reasoning behind this change, Netflix says, is to save users the time of manually going through downloads to choose what to delete - a process that becomes necessary when phone storage is full or slim.

Smart downloads can be turned off if desired by tapping the 'Downloads' icon, clicking 'Smart Downloads,' then toggling it off.
