Old Navy's customers just came to the company's defense.

On Friday, the company posted a photo (pictured right) on Twitter to promote a sale.

"Oh, happy day! Our #ThankYouEvent is finally here. Take 30% off your entire purchase," the tweet read.

But an innocent tweet soon got Twitter raising its ornery voice.

Many people started posting angry tweets in response. They were angry that Old Navy depicted an interracial family in its ad. (Business Insider has chosen to omit these comments.)

But quickly, the thread took a turn. Old Navy's customers started to fight back.

People started posting touching photos of their own interracial families, using the hashtag "#LoveWins."

Old Navy is ostensibly proud of how its customers reacted."We are a brand with a proud history of championing diversity and inclusion. At Old Navy, everyone is welcome," spokesperson Debbie Felix told Business Insider in a statement.
