Mustafabad state legislative assembly is part of the North East Delhi parliamentary district of Delhi. The total number of voters in the Mustafabad assembly seat is 2,33,426. This number includes 1,29,496 males, 1,03,923 females and 7 third gender electors. Mustafabad is a general seat and hence it is open for all contestants to try their luck.
The total number of assembly constituencies in Delhi is 70. The ruling government’s five year term is ending in February 2020 and hence all the 70 assembly seats of Delhi Vidhan Sabha will go for assembly elections in February 2020. The upcoming elections will decide the MLAs who will be representing these assembly seats in the new government that will be formed post elections.
In 2015 elections, Jagdish Pradhan of BJP won from this seat. He scored 58388 votes against the runner up candidate Hasan Ahmed of INC who got 52357 votes. In the earlier two assembly elections for Mustafabad, Hasan Ahmed had won from this seat and functioned as the MLA for this constituency from 2008 to 2015. In both these elections, Hasan Ahmed represented the INC. the vote score he bagged in 2013 election was 56250 and the number of votes he got in 2008 election was 39838. In both these elections, the runner up canddiates were BJP contestants. Hasan Ahmed defeated BJP’s Jagdish Pradhan in 2013 polls and won over BJP’s Yogender Kumar Sharma in 2008 elections.
In the three elections conducted so far in the Mustafabad assembly, two were won by INC candidates and one was won by BJP. AAP is yet to open its innings in this assembly constituency.
