Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York City has announced that all public schools in the city will reopen for in-person learning in the fall, with no remote learning.

"One million kids will be back in their classrooms in September, all in person, no remote," he told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Monday morning.

"We're going to be back strong, ready, safe," he added.

De Blasio cited strong vaccination rates in the city for his decision.

Last month de Blasio announced that New York City would fully reopen on July 1.
