During an hours-long White House meeting about his 2020 election challenges, former President Donald Trump weighed in on a glaring issue - Sidney Powell's spelling mistakes.

Trump sat behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office on December 18, watching Powell, a conspiracy theorist and attorney, get into a screaming match with White House advisers over legal efforts to overturn the results of the presidential election, Axios reported on Tuesday. The heated exchange took place just days after states formally certified the election's results and more than a month after then-President-elect Joe Biden was projected the winner.

One of Trump's advisers, Derek Lyons, excoriated Powell for misspelled words in the legal text of several lawsuits that she filed on her own to overturn the election, according to Axios.

"You somehow managed to misspell the word 'District' three different ways in your suits," Lyons told Powell.

Powell defended herself and was joined by former national security adviser Michael Flynn and ex-Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne, Axios reported. The group argued that Trump's aides are focusing on minor details and moving away from the main issue at hand, which was how to win his election fight.

But Trump pushed back, ridiculing Powell over her errors.

"No, no, [Lyon's] right. That was very embarrassing. That shouldn't have happened," Trump said, per Axios.

Powell's lawsuits did in fact contain several typos and errors. In one lawsuit filed in Georgia, the lawyer wrote "Districct Court" and "Distrcoict of Georgia."

Powell became a major figure in Trump's election battle after repeatedly asserting that voting machines had flipped ballots from Trump to Biden and that foreign actors rigged the election. Federal and state election officials have rejected the claims as false and concluded that there was no widespread voter fraud. Dominion Voting Systems has filed a defamation lawsuit against Powell for $1.3 billion.

Powell, a former federal prosecutor, got booted from Trump's team in November yet continued to pursue legal challenges solo, all of which have failed.

Trump, who prides himself on appearances, blasted his legal team at the time for how they had been carrying out his election challenge. The former president had reportedly been concerned that Powell and his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani had been making him look bad after a press conference they held in November, in which hair dye dripped down the sides of Giuliani's face.
